Hokkaido Summer Trip 2020 Part3 of 3

This is the Blue pond in Biei town.

We arrived in Furano the day before and we checked in first at our Airbnb accommodation in the city center. We went to dinner immediately at a restaurant i researched before, it was a short  walk, the name is "Yuiga Doxon" serving curry and omelette, very popular. It has unique interior made of wood, located by the river and surrounded with trees. They have a fun service, you can have okawari hodai (another helping) of roux if you say the "password" and bring your plate to the kitchen, they will happily give you free. I will be back here to eat other dishes like the ox tongue. My daughter said that the name has a Japanese religious connotation, really?

It was near so we went back in the morning to take a photo. This is the view from the river side.
I think you should try it if you are in town.

I like the spiciness of my food.

I want to sleep soon for driving all day and prepare for our tomorrow's wandering.

In the morning, we were treated by our host of this free breakfast. It wasn't included in the rate but it was her special service plus the free parking and she also has sauna in her old  renovated home. She gave us a lot of extras and she said the rate was at 50% discount and it is near the station. So I think we really had a bargain. The host was like your mother or lola, you know what I mean?  A little bit pesky but nice. Because it was the pandemic we had to have our breakfast in our room.  It was a big room and the breakfast was really nice. I looove the bread and all those fruits of Furano. That pudding is one of the best I tasted, my intuition is she tweaked a brulee  on a simple pudding. It was worth the wait.
She even gave each of us masks, mine was the transparent mouth mask which I will need for teaching speech and phonics when I return to work.
How thoughtful! And we said goodbye to her.

Our first stop today is the Tomita farm, It is just a 15 minute drive from Furano. As we drive, we were at awe with the landscape of this town. I am short of words with  the city planner and government that made this town and the people that cooperated to make this landscape possible. This is a work of art combination of nature and human. A nature's patchwork.

So many photo opportunities here.

Cloudy day but still the colors compete

Tomita farm is basically a lavender farm but they have different kinds of flowers too. We were late for the lavender season but as you stroll you can still smell the lavender aroma. They have a perfume laboratory that you can watch and learn how the processing and science of this(2 pictures above). This farm is educational, beautiful and complete. You can also buy, test and taste their super nice products . I love everything about lavender and this farm will satisfy all of our senses, Look at that scooter and staff uniform, isn't it lovely?. I think the founder of this facility Mr. Tomita did a great job bringing the French tradition here.

After literally soaking my nose with aroma and  other toiletries at the other building. I will not let the lavender ice cream pass by without tasting it. It's one in my bucket list.  Sit and enjoy licking this while watching the beautiful landscaped farm  complete with bees busily working on the left over lavender flowers and me inhaling lavender  too.

After consuming, I walked to the other side of the farm with another building. I was surprised to see this at the entrance. Dedicated to dried flowers and farm products designed inside the whole interior of this building. I took a  short video of it, if you like you can check my youtube  channel

If you like dried flowers, this place is your heaven. But I was already short of time.

This is another building of Tomita farm specializing in Furano melon. sweets and fresh products. OMG I think I need to dedicate a whole day here and bring a lot money to taste all of these sweets.I would love to taste some but my daughter is nowhere to be seen and we don't have much time for our next itinerary. I had to call and warn her about time. I heard from her later on that she want to live here already, hahaha. She cannot be pulled out from the lavender laboratory building.

So these melon sweets, sandwiches, shakes, cookies, ice cream  and cakes will have to wait for the next trip.

Above, are some of the most delectable melon cakes and other recipes that I only found in this place.
You've got to visit here. I will be back for sure.

This is our next in plan after Tomita farm we drove going up the hill. This is the Hitsuji-no-Oka .
Famous for the genghis khan, below photo. A lamb barbecue with vegetables.

The picture above and below are the sceneries you can see while dining.

Pictures  I took after lunch. This place is also a camping area and these cute rabbits are so sweet.
Even rabbits like to watch the sceneries. So, this big rabbit loves to stand up.

After lunch we drove down the hill from Hitsuji-no-Oka.
We were looking for this road called Jetcoaster road by the Japanese and Rollercoaster road by foreigners.
So, if you ask around be sure to know what to ask. I kept on asking the rollercoaster road , no one understood me, then my daughter said oh, jetcoaster ne. So, I am giving you the tip.

It's a little bit hard to find if you come from the opposite direction, but easy if you come from route 237. Or you can input the Kaze no Pension in your car navi (navigation system). It's the nearest commercial building I found nearby.

This is a hill of farm, The road is like a rollercoaster going up and down and very straight. and nice to stop at the top and have some photo and chat just like this biker guys that we arrived together at that time. I made them my free models for this photo opportunity. This road is about 2 kilometers of up and down and beautiful breeze. But in winter this road is closed

The last place we went to, before going to Asahikawa airport.
We took  different airports for coming in and out. I chose a car rental that have this service of returning the car at a different airport. But I think 8,000yen is expensive. If my readers have a cheaper alternative, let me know in the comment please.

I already pointed to come to this place but then because of the too much time consumed waiting for our breakfast and the interesting Tomita farm. We thought we cannot come here. But my daughter checked that we still have time to go.

I was really happy and lucky to be here without the traffic and too much people due to the corona limitations. I was able to take many amazing photos of this blue pond.
I will be printing the best photo of this for a bigger to decorate my living room maybe.
Please check my photos at Picfair, link at the bottom of this page.

Photos up and above I took during our flight. I love being at the window side as I always say when I board an airplane, because of these opportunities, plus the exhilarating feeling watching the scenery that I can only experience while flying.

So back to the sea of buildings, the beautiful Tokyo and back to reality.

Thank you, Hokkaido, for a memorable summer, lovely food. Thank you JAL, for the free tickets, Nissan, Airbnb, to my daughter for helping research and  for the company.

I cooked this white and yellow corn from Hokkaido. It is super super sweet, the white you can eat fresh, yessss uncooked. It is so good directly bought from Hokkaido not the supermarket white corn.

I promise to be back as soon as possible, Hokkaido. Stay tuned for more of my cheap adventurous travels.
