Hokkaido trip 2020 Part 1 of 3

Summer 2020. Hokkaido cheap travel. My daughter and I at the New Chitose airport. From Tokyo we used my JAL mileage point so, it won't get lost expiring while on Covid-19 restrictions. Got on air early, it's the best way to travel to Hokkaido, it takes only about 1 and a half hour.I always love the window side to enjoy the scenery up here and the take-off feeling is just unbelievably exciting for me like a kid( can  you understand the feeling) while my daughter hates it.
Anyways, got some aerial photo of the Rainbow Bridge in Odaiba on a clear morning.

And arrived at New Chitose cloudy. Weather says it's going to be rain today. So, we need to change itinerary a little bit.

We rented a Nissan Note from Chitose airport, not the Honda freed or Fit that I use to drive, because its cheaper. I'm a little bit anxious so I had to ask a lot of questions to the staff. And its my first time here in Hokkaido, but I had to have a car. It is a vast area and the best to explore is by car. And I am the adventure person that when I see something fancy, I will stop and check or explore. Good thing I was with my daughter, we are like an orchestra. She knows that she has to check things on the internet while we are talking and I am driving about our change of plan. So, no lost of time. we were both very excited. "Finally, Hokkaido!", we both said.

First stop of the day. We originally planned for an uni lunch at Shakotan, but then we had to rearrange our schedule because of the said weather. We opted for a visit to the Sapporo Central Market because its on the way to Otaru, where we will sleep for the night.
We checked some  stalls. Few people, maybe because of the travel restrictions.

Walking, walking,checking,checking.
Melons

Crabs

Sweet corn, yellow, the  rare and famous white. I'd love to buy that but it's a little bit expensive for me. I am sure I can find cheaper while driving around some farms or a farmer's market.

My daughter told me upon checking that this  place is the Asaichi  or morning market where locals buy and eat. It is just a few steps at the back of the Central market. But because its about 12 noon now, It's already closed, but this is a good find. I always love asaichi. Maybe next time.
We settle for this lunch at the Central market.

It's Hokkaido, so, I have to eat crabs.

And my daughter loves salmon roe

Next ..... Drive to Otaru.
This is the Shiroi Koibito place on the way to Otaru.
We checked-in first, my daughter who loves to travel cheap as well got this bargain for us for only 3,000yen. Nice deal because its in the center of Otaru, I think the place is called The Green. A room with privacy for us but a 1,000yen for overnight parking.

We walked to the Sakaimichi Street for about 15 minutes. This is the river with glass bells hanged over it. Pretty.

I think this is a very interesting place. Blown glass shops, quaint buildings.

Famous sweets shop Kitakaro. My daughter's favorite, the popular baumkuchen is made here.

I am a bit disappointed I cannot taste other famous sweets here, like that above, sold out soon. ahhh, need to come back again.

Next, we had to check another famous shop here, Very near our dorm.
This is called Naruto, they have this super crispy chicken, that my daughter really wants to go to,
Ahh, I can drink something relaxing now and have this for dinner. This is a place frequented by celebrities and TV programs and the locals, and its quite cheap.
See you in the next part....
